Blue Line After Sunset?

This evening while sitting on the beach enjoying the evening sky, noticed a blue or black line coming from where the sun set. Is this a shadow or ??

    I took a picture, I think we were in Illinois, last July with two 'shadow' lines in it. Did you ever figure out if they were actually shadows?
